Apostle Jona Confirms Separation from Enid Mirembe After 7 Years

Kampala — In a heartfelt and introspective message, City pastor Jonathan Nalebo, popularly known as Apostle Jona, confirmed his separation from longtime partner and former Miss Uganda organiser Enid Mirembe. Their marriage, which lasted over seven years, came to an end following what Jona described as personal failings and the need for mutual healing.

Apostle Jona took full responsibility for the breakdown of the relationship. “After seven-plus years, Enid and I have peacefully parted ways. I take full accountability for falling short. She’s an incredible woman, and I pray she finds the love she deserves,” he wrote in a public statement that quickly spread across social media platforms. The message gained further attention after Galaxy FM, where Jona once worked as a journalist, shared it with their followers.

In a more detailed reflection addressed to his supporters, Jona openly admitted that he mishandled the relationship. He described Enid as a woman of grace and values, acknowledging that her character and conduct often outshone his own ability to match her. “In many ways, she was too perfect for me to keep up with, and I mishandled the treasure she was. I failed to fully honour the values she carried so gracefully in every area of life,” he confessed.

Jona emphasized that the separation did not stem from hostility. Instead, he and Enid made a conscious, peaceful decision to go their separate ways for the sake of their individual healing and the wellbeing of their children. The children will remain under Enid’s custody. “As a servant of God, I know I am called to lead by example—but I have fallen short,” he added. “The enemy often comes for the most precious things—and family is one of them.”

However, Apostle Jona’s request for solitude and spiritual restoration took an unexpected turn online. Just days before announcing the separation, he posted a bold public proposal on social media. When Galaxy FM introduced born-again DJ Alisha Uwase on April 13, praising her transformation from a life of bars and alcohol to faith, Jona responded to the post by asking, “Hi Alisha, can we get married?”

Two days later, DJ Uwase posted new images accompanied by the caption, “He makes everything beautiful… in His time.” Jona responded by quoting Ecclesiastes 3:11: “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”

The online exchange drew mixed reactions. Some followers celebrated Jona’s honesty and hope in new beginnings, while others criticized the timing of his proposal, questioning whether it showed respect to his recent past. Still, Jona maintained his focus on faith and emotional healing. “If love ever comes again, I hope it finds me healed, whole, and more anchored in Christ,” he wrote. “Until then, stay blessed.”
