The Ministry of Water and Environment has significantly enhanced public health by handing over nine new sanitation facilities to Koboko Municipality. This department executed the project to boost hygiene across various public institutions.
The World Bank funded this essential project. Now, schools, hospitals, and the local bus park in Koboko have access to improved sanitation facilities. The ministry stated, “These facilities provide clean and safe sanitation, facilitating a healthier community environment.”
The ministry also hosted the 12th site meeting for the Tirinyi, Kibuku, Kadama, and Budaka Water Supply and Sanitation Project. This meeting took place at the Budaka District Campsite. China Railway No. 10 is implementing the project, while Saman in JV with Cheil Engineering and AWE oversees it. This project will improve water and sanitation services in Budaka, Kadama, Tirinyi, and Kibuku, serving thousands of residents.

Uganda’s government, supported by the World Bank through the Integrated Water Management and Development Project (IWMDP), is developing robust water systems in two lots. These systems aim to enhance services in Tirinyi, Kibuku, Kadama, Budaka, Butaleja, and Busolwe. The ministry highlighted, “Our primary goal is to enhance water supply and sanitation services. We also aim to improve water resources management and service provider performance.”
Additional Sanitation Initiatives
Officials inspected the Faecal Sludge Treatment Plant in Koboko Municipality. This facility will be crucial for safe sanitation waste management once completed.
These efforts demonstrate the Ugandan government’s commitment to improving water and sanitation access across urban centers. By upgrading these services, the government ensures better public health outcomes and quality of life for its communities.
