Ambiance night club in Masaka City suffered a massive fire incident on Thursday, which resulted in the destruction of millions worth of property.
The fire reportedly originated from the upper corner of the building and quickly spread to other sections despite efforts from eyewitnesses, who attempted to prevent it from escalating using rudimentary means.
Bernard Kagolo, an attendant at the night club, confirmed that the fire caused extensive damage to the club’s sound systems, lights, walls fittings, and carpets, among other properties.
The police fire brigade responded to the scene, but unfortunately, their intervention was late. According to Twaha Kasirye, the Greater Masaka Regional Police Spokesperson, preliminary findings suggest that the fire was caused by poor power supply network connections.
However, there is speculation that the fire may have been a targeted attack, with one of the air conditioning systems being the likely point of entry.
