Moroto Regional Referral Hospital to Set Up Coronavirus Isolation Centre

The recommendation comes after the World Health Organization-WHO officer for Karamoja Field Office Dr Ken Kabali completed a training of medical workers at the referral hospital on how to handle cases of the virus if it breaks out.

The Karamoja regional Coronavirus task force has recommended for the establishment of an isolation unit at Moroto Regional Referral Hospital.

The recommendation comes after the World Health Organization-WHO officer for Karamoja Field Office Dr Ken Kabali completed a training of medical workers at the referral hospital on how to handle cases of the virus if it breaks out.

Dr Moses Okwir, the Coronavirus Focal Point Person says that health workers have been equipped with the protective gear including aprons, gowns, and gargles. He says the consignment was delivered Tuesday by Dr Kabali – who heads the regional coronavirus task force for Karamoja.

Dr Okwir also urged the districts to reactivate their respective rapid response task forces.

Dr James Lemukol the District Health Officer of Napak district says that its possible for the country prevent the virus from spreading to Uganda if the people follow the guidelines given by the ministry of health. 

Currently, health workers from Karamoja are sensitizing the community and all patients in a bid to create awareness about the disease.

According to the latest records of the virus, 9 285 deaths have been reported with 85,955 recoveries globally.
