Nandala Mafabi 2026 bid launched

The Nandala Mafabi 2026 bid opened with a colorful homecoming in Mbale. Crowds sang, danced, and waved FDC colors as they welcomed their candidate. The procession ended at Mbale Cricket Grounds, where religious leaders and politicians joined the celebration.

Retired Bishop Patrick Gidudu prayed for Mafabi and blessed him with a spear, shield, and chair. These cultural symbols, he explained, represented leadership, protection, and authority. As a result, the moment highlighted Bugisu’s deep cultural pride in supporting their son.

Messages and promises

Mafabi urged his people to unite behind his presidential run. He promised to deliver “serious leadership” and argued that Uganda’s problems can be solved through discipline and hard work.

“This country is easy to fix. It can be fixed by being serious as workers, and one of the best workers is me,” he said.

In addition, Mafabi criticized the government for ignoring sound advice. He compared Uganda’s struggles with Tanzania and India, which, he said, had prospered because they embraced reforms. Therefore, he vowed to introduce practical solutions that would benefit citizens nationwide.

Support from FDC leaders

FDC leaders joined Mafabi on stage. Outgoing president Patrick Amuriat, chairperson Jack Sabiti, and MPs Joan Alobo, Jonathan Ebwalu, and Geoffrey Ekanya all spoke. They urged Bugisu not to abandon their “own son” at this defining moment.

They praised his academic and professional credentials. For example, they described him as a lawyer, economist, and farmer. They emphasized that he stands out among Uganda’s presidential contenders for his education and experience.

Bugisu’s role in the 2026 race

The Nandala Mafabi 2026 bid shows Bugisu’s central role in Uganda’s politics. The launch blended culture, faith, and politics, creating both a homecoming and a national kickoff.

Mafabi described himself as a humble son of Bugisu who embraces all Ugandans, regardless of religion or ethnicity. Moreover, his supporters argued that this humility, combined with education and cultural strength, gives him an advantage in the 2026 elections.
