Shock in Mayuge District as Security Guard Kills Partner and Commits Suicide

A security guard employed by Priority 1 Security Group in Mayuge district took the life of his partner before tragically ending his own. The incident occurred at the Bugadde SACCO (Saving and Credit Co-operative Organisation) offices in Bugadde town council, Bugadde zone, where the guard was stationed.

The guard, identified as Steven Inyanya, aged 38, reportedly had a romantic relationship with Sarah Ayeyo, aged 30. According to Diana Nandawula, the Busoga East Police region spokesperson, the incident unfolded around 5:58 am on Monday. Inyanya left his post at Bugadde zone and proceeded to Ayeyo’s residence. Upon her opening the door, Inyanya unleashed gunfire, resulting in Ayeyo’s immediate death.

Following the tragic act, Inyanya returned to the SACCO premises and inflicted a fatal gunshot wound to his own neck, leading to his demise.

Law enforcement officials discovered a firearm with 14 rounds of bullets at the scene and collected the spent bullet casings for further investigation. The bodies of Inyanya and Ayeyo were transported to Mayuge Health Centre IV for postmortem examinations. The police have initiated a thorough investigation to ascertain the motives behind the shooting.

In light of this distressing incident, Diana Nandawula urged the public not to take matters into their own hands but rather seek assistance from local authorities or religious leaders when facing challenging circumstances. The tragic event serves as a reminder of the importance of addressing conflicts and seeking support in peaceful and constructive ways.
