St. Kizito High School Namugongo, a Christian-founded institution named after the youngest Christian martyr, Kizito Omuto, continues to solidify its reputation as one of Ugandaβs top-performing secondary schools. In the recently released 2024 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) results, the school once again demonstrated its academic excellence, standing out for its remarkable performance under the newly implemented Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
The UCE results, made public on February 11, 2025, at the State Lodge in Nakasero, Kampala, showcased St. Kizito as a beacon of educational success. The schoolβs head teacher, Mr. Ezekiel Kazibwe, credited the students’ impressive results to a combination of discipline, strong Christian values, and effective teamwork among the staff. He proudly highlighted some of the top achievers, including Ssemujju Terry, Kwagala Esther, Bufambu Emmanuel, Ayella Reagan, Muwanguzi Arthur, and Ntudde Babrah, all of whom earned Division 1.
βWe are immensely proud of our studentsβ achievements,β Mr. Kazibwe said. βTheir exceptional performance is a result of their hard work, determination, and the unwavering support from our teachers and parents.β
Since its founding in 1998, St. Kizito High School has consistently been a center of academic excellence in Wakiso District, Kira Municipality, and across Uganda. Over the past 25 years, the school has provided quality secondary education, ensuring students have the tools they need to excel in todayβs competitive academic environment.
What sets St. Kizito apart is its inclusive approach to education. The school welcomes students of all religious backgrounds, maintaining a non-discriminatory stance while emphasizing Christian values and discipline. This year, the school gained international recognition when it was named one of the three finalists in the Global High Schools Category of the prestigious Zayed Sustainability Prize. Representing Uganda, St. Kizito stood out among 6,000 schools worldwide, showcasing its commitment to both academic and environmental sustainability.
The school has also embraced various initiatives that promote practical skills development and prepare students for life beyond academics. Projects such as reusable sanitary pad production, bakery and cookery, soap making, poultry farming, and fashion design equip students with 21st-century skills like critical thinking, creativity, communication, and ICT proficiency. These initiatives help students adapt to the evolving curriculum while fostering innovation and practical knowledge.
In the 2024 UCE exams, a remarkable 98.05% of the 359,417 candidates qualified for the UCE certificate, reflecting the effectiveness of the CBC and the resilience of both students and educators. The results were categorized into three groups: those who met all certification requirements, those who missed key components, and those who failed to demonstrate basic competency.
As St. Kizito High School continues to evolve and grow, its dedication to academic excellence, character development, and community impact remains unwavering. With a strong foundation of faith, discipline, and teamwork, the school is helping students realize their full potential, ensuring they are well-prepared for future success.
