The UCAA Director General, Mr. Fred K. Bamwesigye, has joined aviation leaders from across the continent at the CANSO Africa Conference, which is running from August 26–29, 2025, at the Argyle Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya.
On the opening day, Mr. Bamwesigye took part in a high-level panel discussion on leadership and safety culture. He stressed the importance of building strong safety cultures within aviation organizations, emphasizing that effective leadership behaviors are crucial in sustaining safety standards.
Mr. Bamwesigye further highlighted challenges faced in aligning safety practices across diverse teams and international stakeholders. He noted that consistent leadership and clear communication remain essential for ensuring that safety culture is not only adopted but also maintained throughout the aviation sector.
The conference has attracted around 100 delegates, including representatives of Air Navigation Service Providers from across Africa, as well as aviation safety experts from Europe, Canada, and the United States. The forum provides a vital space for sharing best practices, insights, and strategies aimed at strengthening aviation safety, efficiency, and collaboration across the continent.
With the presence of key figures like the UCAA Director General, the event reinforces Africa’s growing commitment to building a modern, safe, and globally competitive aviation industry.
