Dr. Hamis Kiggundu, a top Ugandan businessman, has supported the Uganda Cranes with Shs20 million ahead of their CHAN 2024 opener against Algeria, set for Monday, August 4, 2025.
Speaker of Parliament Anita Among delivered the funds to the team. She said Dr. Hamis also pledged Shs20 million for every Cranes victory during the tournament.

“I met Dr. Hamis Kiggundu, a friend of Uganda Cranes,” she said. “He gave me Shs20 million to support the team. He also promised the same amount after each win.”
As CEO of Hamz Group, Dr. Hamis continues to shape the future of Ugandan football. He is currently reconstructing Nakivubo Stadium, the only internationally certified stadium in Kampala.
In addition, he is running the Hamz Up football tournament, which is now in the Round of 32. The next fixture will take place on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, between Mutaasa Kaferro and Original Kisekka Spare Center.
The tournament offers prizes worth over Shs100 million. The winner takes Shs50 million, while the top runners-up earn Shs25 million, Shs15 million, and Shs10 million. Players can also win individual awards worth millions.
Beyond tournaments, Dr. Hamis also funds individual athletes to participate in international events. His steady involvement shows his commitment to uplifting Ugandan sports.
