Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Party Removes Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda as Whip Amidst Internal Controversies

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party has taken the decision to dismiss Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda from his position as whip. This decision was conveyed through a formal letter penned by the FDC’s secretary-general, Nandala Mafabi, and addressed to the Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among. The party has promptly appointed Yusuf Nsibambi as the new whip, effectively replacing Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda.

The decision comes against the backdrop of internal discord within the FDC party. The disputes gained traction when Ssemujju, who also serves as the party’s spokesperson, levied allegations against Nandala Mafabi and the party’s president, Patrick Amuriat. Ssemujju claimed that Mafabi and Amuriat had accepted financial contributions from President Museveni to fund their respective campaigns during the 2021 elections.

The official letter from Nandala Mafabi to Speaker Anita Among stated, “In accordance with section 6 (I), the party hereby appoints Hon. Yusuf Nsibambi as the Party Whip of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) to replace Hon Ssemujju Ibrahim Nganda.”

The FDC’s decision to replace Ssemujju Nganda as whip signals a dynamic shift within the party’s leadership structure. As these internal struggles persist, the FDC faces the challenge of managing both its internal cohesion and public perception.
