Leader of Opposition Considers Involvement in FDC Leadership Dispute Mediation

Mr. Mathias Mpuuga, the distinguished Leader of the Opposition within the Parliament, is deliberating the prospect of joining a mediation team tasked with addressing the internal turmoil prevailing within the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party.

In the week preceding, the party conducted a pivotal national council gathering. At this assembly, a comprehensive report submitted by senior party members took center stage as a potential measure aimed at alleviating the escalating tensions triggered by allegations encircling Mr. Patrick Amuriat, the party’s President, and Nandala Mafabi, the Secretary General. These allegations insinuated that the two prominent figures received financial backing from the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) to fuel their campaign endeavors during the 2021 elections.
