Kampala Police Investigate Fatal Crash Involving Officer and Former Minister’s Wife

Kampala police have launched an investigation into a tragic accident that claimed the life of Florence Taka, wife of former Minister of State for East African Affairs, Julius Maganda.

The fatal crash occurred on Sunday evening at Kitukutwe, along the Kiwologoma-Nakwero road in Wakiso District, part of the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area.

According to Traffic Police spokesperson Michael Kananura, the accident involved a Toyota Harrier (UAM 516B), in which Taka was a passenger, and a Toyota Premio driven by a police officer.

Eyewitness reports indicate that the Toyota Harrier had pulled over, and Taka had stepped out to load food items purchased from a nearby stall. In a tragic turn, the driver of the Toyota Premio, traveling in the same direction, lost control and crashed into the Harrier, pinning Taka between the two vehicles. Despite efforts to rush her to the hospital, she succumbed to her injuries.
