List of Wind Energy Companies in Uganda

Companies with published wind-power services, project experience and windmill installation capabilities in Uganda.
November 8, 2026

Wind energy companies in Uganda offer different services, including equipment supply, small wind-turbine installation, hybrid power systems, engineering consultancy and wind-powered water pumping.

These activities should be distinguished when choosing a provider. An electricity-generating turbine serves a different purpose from a mechanical windmill that pumps water. Likewise, a consultancy providing feasibility studies may not supply or install equipment.

This directory identifies six companies with published wind-related services or documented project experience in Uganda. It is not a ranking or a list of operating wind farms. Confirm each company’s current capabilities, equipment availability and service coverage before commissioning work.

  • Feasibility studies.
  • Wind-farm grid-connection support.
  • Owner’s engineering.
  • Lender’s engineering.
  • Technical advice and detailed engineering.

Published location: Kampala, Uganda.
Published telephone: +256 700 322465 / +256 775 075466.

Request a proposal describing the assessment methodology, deliverables and relevant project experience. Confirm whether equipment supply and installation would require a separate appointment.

Wind-Powered Water-Pumping Contractors

6. Coronation Developers (U) Limited

Coronation Developers publishes a windmill installation service and reports installing Australian-made windmills in Karamoja.

Its described work includes assembling and erecting towers, installing deep-well and distribution pipework, constructing reservoirs and providing livestock watering facilities.

This is a wind-powered water-supply offering. It should be distinguished from installing turbines that generate electricity.

Published project activities include:

  • Windmill tower assembly and erection.
  • Deep-well installation works.
  • Water-distribution pipework.
  • Reservoir construction.
  • Livestock watering troughs.
  • Associated earthworks and civil construction.

Provide information about the water source, required daily volume, pumping distance and existing infrastructure when requesting an assessment.

How to Choose a Wind Energy Company in Uganda

Define the Intended Use

Begin by stating whether the project is intended to generate electricity, pump water or supplement another energy source.

For electricity projects, provide your consumption information and operating requirements. For water pumping, explain the water source, delivery point and expected demand.

Request a Site-Specific Assessment

Wind projects require assessment of local conditions. Uganda’s Electricity Regulatory Authority identifies small-scale generation and water pumping among the country’s wind-energy applications, particularly in suitable locations.

Ask the provider what measurements and site information are needed before recommending equipment. A location that feels windy is not sufficient evidence of an economically suitable installation.

Check Relevant Experience

Request references that match your intended technology and project size. Solar installation experience alone does not establish competence in wind-turbine installation.

For consultants, ask for examples of completed assessments and engineering assignments. For installers, request evidence of turbine commissioning and maintenance experience.

Establish Local Maintenance Support

Before buying equipment, ask:

  • Who will inspect and service the system?
  • Which replacement parts are available locally?
  • Who handles warranty claims?
  • What access equipment is needed for maintenance?
  • Are travel and call-out charges included?
  • What happens if the original equipment supplier stops supporting the model?

Include these arrangements in the contract.

What Should a Wind-Energy Quotation Include?

A useful quotation should separate equipment costs from assessment, installation and ongoing support.

Depending on the project, request details of:

  • Site assessment and wind-data requirements.
  • Turbine or windmill manufacturer and model.
  • Tower and foundation design.
  • Transport and erection.
  • Electrical controls or pumping equipment.
  • Batteries and system integration, where applicable.
  • Testing and commissioning.
  • Operating documentation.
  • Warranty and scheduled maintenance.

For electricity projects, ask for the assumptions behind projected energy production. A turbine’s rated capacity alone does not describe how much electricity it will generate at your site.

What Affects Wind-Energy Project Costs?

Site Conditions and Assessment

The location, terrain, access and assessment requirements influence project development costs. Ask whether measurement equipment and feasibility work are included in the initial proposal.

Equipment and Supporting Infrastructure

The turbine or windmill is only part of the installation. Towers, foundations, controls, wiring, pipework or water storage may also be required.

Transport and Installation

Equipment delivery, lifting arrangements and construction access can affect the total, especially at remote sites.

Maintenance and Replacement Parts

Compare the expected servicing requirements and availability of replacement components. A purchase price should be considered alongside the support needed to keep the equipment operating.
