Dr Charles Ayume has defeated state minister for investment Evelyne Anite for the National Resistance Movement flag bearer position for Koboko Municipality seat, according to provisional results.
Ayume scored 7,384 against Anite’s 5,851 votes in the elections that were conducted on Friday.
Ayume noted that he was still interested in working with Anite for the interest of the people of Koboko, but also dared her to stand as an independent if she wanted to.
Preliminary results also indicated that the Minister for General Duties Karooro Okurut was trailing Annet Katusiime Mugisha for the Bushenyi Woman MP seat, while state minister for economic monitoring, Nawe Molly Kamukama, was trailing Jennifer Muheesi in Kazo.
In Sheema Municipality, science and technology minister Dr. Elioda Tumwesigye had also been defeated by the former commissioner for customs at the Uganda Revenue Authority, Dickson Kateshumbwa.
The NRM Electoral Commission is expected to announce the official results in due course.
