Police in Kiira region have confirmed the arrest of Faridah Namugera and her husband, Michael Ngobi, for faking a kidnapping.
It is said that Ngobi, a resident of Buwagi cell, in Budondo ward, in Northern division, in Jinja city reported to police how Namugera had been kidnapped by unknown assailants as she went for antenatal services at Budondo Health Centre IV on 3rd, January, 2024.
Ngobi also alleged that Namugera had been bundled up in a motor vehicle of the Noah series, black and sped off to an unknown location under the watch of onlookers in the area.
Ngobi further added his wife was taken to a private home in Jami village, in Budaka district, where the assailants were using her phone to call him for a ransom of two million shillings.
However, Ngobi’s information contradicted information extracted from witnesses who claimed to have seen Namugera board a taxi to Amber court stage in the southern division, of Jinja city, before jumping on a motorcycle, which sped off towards the Jinja-Iganga highway.
