Father kills son over Shs7000

Police in Lira District have arrested a 45-year-old man accused of stabbing his son to death over Shs7000.

The suspect, who is a resident of Abongo-rwot Village, Agali Sub County in Lira District, is being detained at Lira Central Police Station.

It’s alleged the suspect on Wednesday evening stabbed his son identified as Ceaser Eran, 22, after he attempted to withdraw Shs7000 from his father’s mobile money account.

The father and his son had received payment for their casual work via mobile money, but since it was already late and all mobile money outlets were closed, the father suggested it should be withdrawn the following morning.

The deceased, however, disagreed with his father, removed the SIM card so that he could withdraw the money in his absence. The suspect then allegedly stabbed him with a knife to death in the scuffle.

The North Kyoga Police spokesperson, Mr James Ekaju, confirmed the incident saying that the suspect was in their custody at Lira Central Police Station. Advertisement

“His file has already been taken to the Resident State Attorney for sanctioning and the deceased’s body was taken to Lira Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem,” he said.
