A woman in Njeru, Buikwe District, was robbed at gunpoint, losing 10 million shillings.
The incident occurred at Kyabagu zone, with three unidentified assailants, one-armed, escaping on a motorcycle.
SP Hellen Butoto, the Ssezibwa regional police spokesperson says that at around 8 pm, in Kyabagu zone, Njeru West ward, Njeru Central Division, Buikwe District, a woman identified as Margret Ssemeyi was reportedly robbed at gunpoint, losing 10 million shillings.
According to SP Hellen Butoto, the Ssezibwa regional police spokesperson, three unidentified individuals, one armed with a gun and all dressed in civilian attire, carried out the robbery.
Ssemeyi shared her account of the incident, stating that upon arriving at her residence in Kyabagu zone and while still inside her silver Toyota Primo with registration plate UBE 850W, three individuals, one of them wielding a gun, forcibly opened her car door and threatened her with the weapon. She complied with their demands, surrendering 10 million shillings, a key to the depot, and a smartphone with two lines.
After taking the items, the assailants fired a shot into the air before fleeing to an unknown destination. Witnesses reported that they later escaped on a motorcycle, the details of which were not well-identified.
Margret Ssemeyi, a 62-year-old businesswoman of Muganda ethnicity, operates a beer and soda depot at Nakibizi trading centre. As of now, the identity of the suspects remains unknown, and they are still at large, categorized as unidentified gunmen.
