On March 25, 2023, Edward Muhumuza, a 34-year-old reporter at Nation Media Group-Uganda, passed away in a car accident on the Kampala-Entebbe expressway.
Muhumuza had just begun to establish his journalism career, which was characterized by a passion for the profession and an unwavering demand for integrity in his work.
Despite being born into a Muslim family, Muhumuza converted to Christianity as a teenager and became a devout member of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Kampala Central Church, where he was also the director of communications.
Muhumuza was fluent in several local languages, and his diligence and meticulous research made him an exceptional journalist.
In his last days, he was touring the Albertine Region on an assignment that involved specialized reporting on Uganda’s oil production, and he had just returned to Kampala to complete coursework for his journalism course at Nkumba University.
