Kampala, Uganda – In a remarkable feat for the Ugandan music scene, rising artist Alien Skin defied all odds by organizing a highly successful concert within a mere four days. Utilizing social media advertising and street drives as primary promotional tools, Alien Skin’s Sitya Danger concert at Freedom City last night witnessed an astounding turnout, establishing him as a star who has swiftly risen to fame.
Hailing from the ghetto in Makindye, Alien Skin catapulted to prominence last month after a video of singer Pius Mayanja, also known as Pallaso, mercilessly attacking him went viral. The incident captured the attention of social media users who rallied behind Alien Skin for his composed demeanor during the altercation with Pallaso and his gang.
Encouraged by Alien Skin’s resilience, his followers and critics of the Mayanja family, who had previously disapproved of singer Chameleone’s clash with a Boda Boda cyclist before his Gwanga Mujje concert, urged Alien Skin to seek musical revenge by organizing a concert on the same date, June 9th, when Pallaso had planned his love fest at Lugogo Cricket Oval.
While Pallaso’s organizing team was led by Balam Barugahare, a music promoter aligned with the current regime and an active member of the MK Movement, Alien Skin’s concert was orchestrated by Abbey Musinguzi, popularly known as Abtex. The rivalry between these two promoters is longstanding and well-known.
As the clock struck 6 PM, the gates to Freedom City were closed, with all tickets sold out and revelers scrambling for space. Fearing a repetition of the tragic events that occurred on New Year’s Eve in 2022, when a stampede led to fatalities, the management of Freedom City requested some attendees to watch the concert from the parking lot on screens.
The VIP section exceeded its capacity, and security personnel appeared overwhelmed by the unprecedented and record-breaking crowd.
Alien Skin took the stage later in the evening, greeted by cheers and enthusiastic chants from his devoted supporters. Champion Ogudo, the leader of his security team, stole the spotlight as the opening act, showcasing his singing talent and performing a hit song titled “Tuli Babbi,” meaning “we are bad.”
Alien Skin’s performance was nothing short of extraordinary as he flawlessly delivered each of his 40 newly released songs within just one year of joining the music industry. His captivating stage presence and magnetic energy left the already enthralled audience electrified, marking a significant milestone in his budding career
