Commander, Biden Family Dog, Requires Training After 11th Biting Incident

September 28, 2023

Commander, one of the Biden family’s German shepherds, is facing training after biting a Secret Service agent, marking at least the 11th such incident involving the dog.

The Bidens attribute Commander’s behavior to the “stressful” conditions at the White House. The most recent bite occurred when an officer came into contact with the dog on the White House grounds. Commander’s previous biting incidents have included one that sent a victim to the hospital.

The Bidens have committed to additional training to help Commander adjust to the unpredictable nature of the White House environment.

In 2021, their other German shepherd, Major, was briefly sent back to Delaware due to biting incidents and also received additional training.

The Biden’s k9 family has a sister cat called Willow, who is a short-haired cat
