Serere officials quizzed over sh200m community road

“Funds were released over 18 months ago but works commenced a few weeks ago.”

The head of the State House Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU), Lt. Col. Edith Nakalema, has quizzed five Serere district officials over the sh200m meant for the construction of a community access road in Olio sub-county.

The five officials include Christine Nambi, the district chief finance officer, Nathan Otuta, the district planner, Simon Emesu, the district engineer, John Peter Ekwelu Achibu, the Northern Uganda Social Action Fund (NUSAF) desk officer, and Joseph Baan, the district Internal Auditor.

ACU had earlier posted on Twitter: “Over sh200m has so far been spent on this 11.3km Kakus-Aima-Oculura Road found in Oloi S/County-Serere District.

“Funds were released over 18 months ago but works commenced a few weeks ago. A probe into what caused the delays and #accountability for the money spent has commenced.”
