Equity Bank Welcomes 100 Top UACE Students into 2025 Leaders Program

Kampala, Uganda – May 5, 2025 | A cohort of 100 outstanding students from across Uganda has officially joined the prestigious Equity Leaders Program (ELP) 2025, following their exceptional performance in the 2024 Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) exams.

These scholars, selected by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), began a week-long induction at African Bible University in Lubowa before embarking on a three-month paid internship at Equity Bank, where they will gain real-world experience and personalized mentorship.

A Launchpad for Global Leadership

Equity Bank Uganda Managing Director Gift Shoko addressed the students, urging them to pursue purposeful leadership:

“We are not just raising leaders for Uganda, but for the global stage. Leadership is forged through resilience—don’t expect an easy path. Rise like eagles.”

The program offers more than internships. Through college counseling and academic support, scholars aspiring to study abroad receive help navigating international admissions. To date, the program has helped over 125 Ugandan students secure admission to top global institutions, including 13 currently enrolled at Harvard University.

Beyond Borders: Leadership, Tech, and Community

For students pursuing education locally, ELP university chapters continue supporting leadership and innovation development. These chapters serve as hubs for entrepreneurship training, digital projects, and peer mentorship—with 17 past ELP participants now full-time Equity Bank staff.

The 2025 intake also marks a major milestone, following the February graduation of 29 arts students from the program’s pioneer cohort, highlighting its expanding impact in both academic and practical fields.

Equity’s Commitment to Inclusive Excellence

The ELP is committed to bridging the opportunity gap, drawing students from diverse districts and underserved communities, not just high-ranking urban centers. Performance benchmarks ranged from top-tier distinctions to strong regional scores, reinforcing Equity Bank’s mission of cultivating ethical, empowered, and globally competitive leaders.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgl3KqQiDYU
